PushApp Alternative: Push-Up Duels With Friends

Looking for a PushApp alternative? Beastie counts push-ups, squats and jumping jacks with the camera and settles it with friends by link or live duel.

If you like PushApp's camera counting but want to beat specific friends rather than climb a public board, Beastie is the closest alternative. It counts push-ups, squats and jumping jacks with your phone camera, only counts clean reps, and settles it with a friend by challenge link or a live 60-second duel, with no XP or ranks. PushApp is the better pick if you want a global push-up leaderboard, crew boards and a video to post.

We make Beastie. Everything below about PushApp (also styled PUSHapp, by Elia Move LLC) comes from its App Store listing, its Google Play listing and trypushapp.com, read on 3 October 2026. US App Store prices; they can change.

What PushApp does well

It's built for leaderboards. A global board with "every rep camera-verified and depth-checked", plus private crew boards you join with one invite code. If your group wants a running table that everyone can see, that's PushApp's home ground.

It's made for posting. After a set you get a summary, a share card and a vertical 1080×1920 video with the rep counter baked in.

It's flexible about the camera angle. Its site says any angle that sees your hands, shoulders and hips in plank works, and your feet don't need to be in frame.

It runs in a browser too. There's a web app alongside the iPhone and Android apps, so you can count a set on a laptop.

The basics are free. Counting, tracking and share cards don't need Pro.

PushApp is new: it has 6 ratings on the US App Store as of October 2026.

Why people look for an alternative

You want to beat one person, not the world

A global board tells you you're ranked somewhere in the thousands. Most push-up rivalries are smaller than that: a roommate, a sibling, the group chat. Beastie is built around that one-on-one. You send a number as a link ("27 push-ups. Your move, beastie."), your friend opens it in any browser to see what they're up against, and they have seven days to answer with the app. If you're both free right now, start a live duel instead: same 60 seconds, two cameras, most clean reps wins. Either way, the verdict has a rematch button. See how a push-up challenge works.

You don't want XP or ranks

PushApp lists "Streaks & XP" and rank levels. Beastie has neither on purpose. Progress is your rep records, your win record and your streaks, and a streak only pauses when you miss a day. It never breaks. The score that matters is the one against your friend.

You want more than push-ups

PushApp's listings describe a push-up counter. Beastie also counts squats and jumping jacks, so a duel can be leg day or cardio.

You don't want video leaving the phone

PushApp is clear that counting itself is on-device, and video leaves the phone only when you choose to render a clip while signed in or turn on split screen in a PUSH KOMBAT duel. Its App Store privacy label lists Photos or Videos among data that may be linked to you. Beastie has no video feature at all: every frame is processed on the phone and thrown away, in solo sets and in duels. It even counts in airplane mode.

What Beastie does differently

A strict count. A live skeleton is drawn over you while you go: white for a clean segment, orange where form broke. A push-up counts when your elbows bend past about 90 degrees and come back to straight arms, with your body line checked. If it isn't sure, it doesn't count. How it counts explains the thresholds, and our push-up competition rules set out why a strict rep is the only fair one in a duel.

A front door that opens without the app. Your friend sees the challenge in a browser before deciding to install anything, and answering it is always free.

Something to do alone. Duel the mascot, try to beat your own record, or follow a camera-counted plan that adapts to the reps you actually did.

What Beastie can't do

Beastie has no public leaderboard to climb, no shareable workout video and no web app. It counts three exercises, and it needs room to prop the phone with your whole body in frame. After your first counted set, solo sets and new duels need Beastie Pro, which starts with a 7-day free trial. Answering a friend's challenge stays free.

Questions people ask

What is a good alternative to PushApp?

If you want to settle push-ups with specific friends rather than a public leaderboard, Beastie is the closest alternative. It counts push-ups, squats and jumping jacks with the phone camera, and a challenge is a link your friend can open in a browser before installing anything.

Is PushApp free?

Partly. PushApp's site says the counter, tracking and share cards are free. Its US App Store listing shows PushApp Pro at $9.99 and Pro Yearly at $99.99 as in-app purchases.

Can I do a push-up challenge with friends in Beastie?

Yes, that is what Beastie is for. Send a number as a link with seven days to answer, or start a live 60-second duel where both cameras count at once. The verdict shows both counts and a one-tap rematch.

Does Beastie have XP or ranks like PushApp?

No. Progress in Beastie is your rep records, your win record and your streaks. There are no points, XP or levels, and a streak pauses when you miss a day instead of breaking.

Does Beastie upload my video?

No. Pose detection runs on your phone and every frame is thrown away as it is processed. Video is never uploaded or stored, including in duels.

Send a rep battle. Let the camera judge.

Beastie counts push-ups, squats and jumping jacks on your phone — only clean reps count — and your friend can answer from a link, no app needed to see it.
